This site is to let our employees know the current status of the company.

June 2022

FujiFilm let the domain fxpal.com expire,

and I didn't want to pay $11k for it in the auction.

I will likely put a last-backup of Palblog up at http://www.fxpal.net

April 19, 2018 - Main Internet connection down, mail through secondary line for now.

It got better.

Sept. 8, 2016 2:15pm Mail certificate issue fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

1pm Updating the SSL Certificate on our mail servers seems to have messed up HTTPS. Which is more necessary than one might think, as the servers use it for internal communication. We are working on it.

11pm

Internet connection came back around 10:30pm. AT&T fixed a faulty switch somewhere. Everything better or getting that way. Sorry and thank you.

9:30pm or so:

NTT has escalated the issue to AT&T with lots of buzzwords like "priority" and "1st level". AT&T still hasn't assigned someone to test their part of the circuit.

Keep in mind that all internal things work fine - internal mail, file servers and sharing. Just no internet in or out. Our phones work. Email to/from our parent company is probably okay. So some of us can have a productive Monday. Some of us less so.

8pm or so:

Internet at our company is down - NTT is fine, internal net is fine. Right now (8pm) it looks like the AT&T link between us is broken/bad/possessed, and we can't seem to pass traffic. NTT is asking AT&T to look into it. Looks like this started about 1:30 pm or so (I got my last email at 1:19pm).

We will update here as things progress. Hopefully NTT/AT&T find and fix the problem, because we are quite short staffed this weekend. Much of our IT staff is/was off the grid, visiting family, or being visited by family, dealing with fender-benders and car break-ins, and other bits of fun.

New site, hosted at a new place.

Yes, the switch and router sneezed this morning. They look to be better, I hope.

This is here just for John to remember good times and interesting times.

FX Palo Alto Laboratory (FXPAL) was a unique place, and like many things, the world is worse for its passing.

It was an honor and a pleasure to work with and support such a great collection of people over the decades.
